You are called to reveal the Savior, not be a savior.
Paul quoted a song, the subject of which religious teachers imagined was a mysterious reference to King David of Israel, but it was not about David.
We will easily find attraction to heroes, but it is not about them.
Paul announces, “Now this is not a reference to David, for after David had served his generation according to the will of God, he died and was buried, and his body decayed. No, it was a reference to someone else–someone whom God raised and whose body did not decay.” (Acts 13:36-37)
As our nation recognizes Martin Luther King, we remember a venerable figure and legacy indeed.
But ultimately the cause of righteousness is about Jesus. It’s not about you.
Like King David, and like Dr. King, you are called to serve your generation.
